Journey to Mikumi National Park, reminiscent of the Serengeti, for another two days of thrilling safaris amidst its open grasslands. Then, escape to Zanzibar for three days of relaxation, exploring pristine beaches, snorkeling in turquoise waters, and indulging in the island’s cultural richness. Conclude your journey by departing from the tropical paradise of Zanzibar, having experienced the best of Tanzania’s wildlife and coastal beauty.
ITINERARY
DAY 1
Arrival in Nyerere National Park
Arrive in Nyerere National Park after flying in from Zanzibar. Begin your safari adventure with a game drive in this vast and remote park, known for its abundant wildlife, including elephants, hippos, and a variety of bird species. Spend the night at a lodge or camp within the park.
Day 2
Nyerere National Park
Dedicate a full day to further exploring the beauty of Nyerere National Park. Enjoy game drives along the Rufiji River and its tributaries, keeping an eye out for crocodiles, hippos, and numerous bird species. Relax in the evening at your lodge or camp.
Day 3 - 4
Mikumi National Park
Depart for Mikumi National Park, known as the “mini-Serengeti” for its resemblance to its more famous counterpart. Spend two days exploring Mikumi’s open grasslands and searching for its abundant wildlife, including lions, zebras, and giraffes. Overnight stays will be at a lodge or camp in or near Mikumi.
Day 5:
Zanzibar
Bid farewell to the southern parks and return to Zanzibar, a tropical paradise known for its pristine beaches and rich culture. Check into your beachfront accommodation, where you’ll spend the next three days enjoying the sun, sea, and leisure activities.
Day 6 - 7
Zanzibar
Relax and unwind on Zanzibar’s beautiful beaches. You can choose to explore Stone Town, indulge in water sports, or simply soak up the sun. Zanzibar offers a variety of experiences, from historical tours to snorkeling and spice farm visits.
Day 8
Departure
Enjoy your last moments in Zanzibar with a leisurely breakfast and perhaps some last-minute shopping or beachcombing. Later, transfer to Zanzibar’s airport for your departure, concluding your 8-day journey through Tanzania’s Southern Circuit and ending with a beachfront paradise on Zanzibar Island.
